Help Desk

Services provided to the merchant by an acquirer, sometimes through a third party processor. The help desk responds to terminal problems, provides repair or replacement, and assists the merchant with questions about the point-of-sale equipment or authorization procedure.

Highly Suspect Merchant

A merchant location where an unusually high number of suspect transactions have occurred in proportion to the merchantís total transaction volume.

A laser-created photograph that creates a three-dimensional image that is used as an anti-counterfeiting measure on bankcards.

A regional debit network.

Host

A computer or CPU used to process transactions. Elavonís host is called Stratus.

Host Based

Software protocol. The sales are stored at the Host.

Hot Card

A card account on which excessive use in occurring, often an indication that the card (or account number) has been stolen.

Hourhand

An Elavon added value product. Allows the merchant to use his/her POS device as a timeclock. The feature is found on all Tranz applications and the F95. The new name for this product is Hourhand.

Software protocol. The sales are stored both in the terminal and at the Host.
